The first piano we installed was part of a community festival in Krymská street, Prague. It was placed there, together with a few chairs, by our founder Ondřej Kobza to complement the pleasant day when the street belongs to people, not cars. When he later launched the Bajkazyl bar and bicycle workshop on the Vltava river embankment, a piano was installed there to enliven the waterfront as well.

In the summer of 2013, Ondřej decided to expand the idea further.

After some negotiations with the authorities, pianos sprung up in five places in Prague and fascinated pedestrians as well as the media.

Shortly after, we were contacted by people from other cities, who we assisted in sourcing and installing their own pianos. The idea was further supported by over six hundred contributors on HitHit, the Czech version of Kickstarter.

Today, you can find street pianos at more than 50 locations throughout the Czech Republic.
